If this is your first Virtual CRASH self-paced training course, take a few minutes to read over the Getting Started page. The Getting Started page includes details on grading, completion time, and the requirements to receive a certificate of completion. Successful completion of this course assumes an active and valid vCRASH software license.

PREREQUISITES:

It is strongly recommended that students first complete the Virtual CRASH Interface self-paced training course before taking Simulation Basics.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course deals with the functional knowledge of setting up and executing simulations in Virtual CRASH. Although this course is ideal for new users of Virtual CRASH, even experienced users stand to benefit from many of the topics covered. COURSE MODULES

Module I: Initial Conditions, Output Data, Sequences, and Adhesion

  • Module I teaches you how to set up a vehicle in Virtual CRASH, program sequences for steering, braking, and acceleration, and use tools like graphs, reports, friction zones, and the Adaptive Driver System (ADS) to analyze and optimize simulations.

Module II: Review of Manual Steering Input

  • Module II reviews how to set up a vehicle in a simple environment and use the Sequences Menu to manually program a left-turn maneuver, adjusting timing, steering angle, and sequence management to control the vehicle’s path.

Module III: Introduction to Path Follow

  • Module III teaches how to use the path follow (auto-driver) function in Virtual CRASH to guide a vehicle along a user-created polyline for steering control.

Module IV: Advanced Functionality of Path Follow

Module V: The Adaptive Driver System (ADS)
